TIRINKOT (PAN): Two civilians were killed and a dozen others wounded during a bomb attack in Tirinkot, the capital of central Uruzgan province, Monday afternoon, an official said.
The bomb rigged to a bicycle was detonated through a remote-control device in the Minar Square at 11.30am, when Afghan soldiers was passing by, the Uruzgan deputy police chief said.
Col. Mohammad Aslam told Pajhwok Afghan News that five Afghan soldiers were among the injured who were evacuated to hospital by police and residents.
A doctor at the Uruzgan Civil Hospital confirmed receiving 13 wounded people, including five Afghan soldiers. One of the civilians later succumbed to his injuries, Dr. Izzatullah said.
Giving a witness account, Basir said the bomb attack happened when a soldier was shopping in the area. Several shopkeepers were among the wounded, he added.
