Taliban and Haqqani leaders detained in Afghan operations

Afghan and coalition security forces captured a Taliban leader along with a Haqqani Network leader following military operations in Kandahar and Khost provinces of Afghanistan.
International Security Assistance Force following a press release on Monday announced Afghan and coalition security force captured a Taliban facilitator during an operation in Kandahar district, Kandahar province, Saturday. The facilitator provided weapons, ammunition and equipment to insurgents in Kandahar City and Kandahar district for attacks against Afghan and coalition forces. The security force also detained one additional insurgent as a result of this operation.
The source further added, Afghan-led security force captured a Haqqani leader during an operation in Terayzai district, Khost province, yesterday. The leader directed roadside bombings and other attacks against Afghan and coalition security forces throughout Bak district. The security force detained two additional insurgents as a result of this operation.
In a separate military operation at eastern Logar province Afghan security forces detained several insurgents at Baraki Barak district, ISAF added. The operation was launched to detain a Haqqani Network leader who is suspected of providing weapons and ammunition to insurgents for a planned attack against Afghan government officials, Afghan security forces and coalition security forces in Kabul City. Additionally, the facilitator has ties to the Pakistan-based leaders of the Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan.
