Afghan police foil bombing plot in Farah province

According to Afghan Interior Ministry officials Afghan police forces foiled a bombing plot in western Farah province after seizing a motorcycle packed with explosives from this province.

The source further added Afghan police forces detained a Taliban militant along with a motorcycle packed with explosives in western Farah province on Friday morning.

The militant was looking to carry out insurgency attack at the Central city of Farah province, the officials said.

In the meantime another militant was killed at Panjwai district of southern Kandahar province while he was planting roadside improvised explosive device.

In a separate statement Afghan Interior Ministry announced at least 8 Taliban militants were killed and one of them was detained following operations by Afghan national police forces during the past 24 hours.

The statement further added Afghan police forces conducted eight separate military operations along with the Afghan army, Afghan intelligence and coalition security forces at Kabul, Nangarhar, Nuristan, Baghlan, Kandahar, Helmand, Zabul and Uruzgan provinces of Afghanistan.

Afghan security forces also seized some weapons, ammunitions and explosives during the military operations, Afghan interior ministry officials said following the statement.

Anti-government armed militant groups yet to comment regarding the reports.
