2 ANA troops killed, 8 injured: MoD

KABUL (PAN): Two Afghan National Army (ANA) soldiers were killed and eight others wounded during separate incidents of violence over the past 24 hours, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) said on Thursday.

The troops suffered casualties in roadside bomb and gun attacks by rebels in Nangarhar, Farah, Khost, Kandahar and Uruzgan provinces, an MoD statement said.

With the latest casualties, the number of Afghan troops killed and wounded over the past one and a half month has reached 90.

President Karzai on Thursday told lawmakers that the casualty rate among Afghan forces had recently increased. Around 20 national security personnel were either killed or wounded on a daily basis, he said.
