6 Taliban dead in clash with HIA fighters

KABUL (PAN): Six Taliban militants were killing during fresh clashes with Hezb-i-Islami fighters in the Nirkh district of central Maidan Wardak province, officials said on Saturday.

The clash took place in Omer Khel, Khwaja Biland, Dikharqa, Awalkhel and Khan Jan areas of the district on Friday, the governor's spokesman, Shahidullah Shahid, told Pajhwok Afghan News.

The overnight clash occurred after HIA fighters came under attack, he said, adding that six Taliban were killed and several others injured.

Mohammad Hanif Hanifi, the administrative head of Nirkh, confirmed receiving reports about the killing of seven Taliban by HIA supporters.
