NATO supply vehicles burnt in northern Afghanistan

According to local authorities in northern Samangan province of Afghanistan, at least two vehicles providing supplies for the NATO-led International Security Assistance Forces were torched in this province.

Provincial security Chief Mosadiqullah Muzafari confirming the report said the incident took place early Thursday morning.

He said the main reason behind the incident is unclear so far however local residents in the area are saying that the vehicles burnt following a roadside bomb explosion.

Reports suggest there were no casualties but provincial security chief Mosadiqullah Muzafari said the supplies vehicles of ISAF were totally burnt.

This comes as NATO supply vehicles have recently been targeted by militants in northern Samangan province of Afghanistan.

Samangan is a relatively peaceful province in northern Afghanistan however attack on NATO supplies convoy have crated tensions among the local officials.

In the meantime a spokesman for the Taliban group Zabiullah Mujahid said Taliban militants have so far destroyed more than 12 vehicles belonging to NATO troops in Kotal-e-Robatak area.
