R.I.P. - Cpl. Christopher M. Monahan Jr.

DOD Identifies Marine Casualty

            The Department of Defense announced today the death of a Marine who was supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.

            Cpl. Christopher M. Monahan Jr., 25, of Island Heights, N.J., died Nov. 26 while conducting combat operations in Helmand province, Afghanistan. He was assigned to Combat Logistics Battalion 2, Combat Logistics Regiment 2, 2nd Marine Logistics Group, II Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Lejeune, N.C.

The Department of Defense announced late today the death of a Marine who was supporting Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan.

Cpl. Christopher M. Monahan Jr., 25, of Island Heights, N.J., died yesterday, Nov. 26, 2012, while conducting combat operations in Helmand province, Afghanistan.

He was assigned to Combat Logistics Battalion 2, Combat Logistics Regiment 2, 2nd Marine Logistics Group, II Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Lejeune, N.C.

At this time, there is no additional information regarding the circumstances surrounding Cpl. Monahan’s death or if there were other Marines who might have been injured in this combat operation.

Over 2,000 U.S. troops have been killed in Afghanistan supporting Operation Enduring Freedom fighting the Global War on Terror.
