Dec. 21., 2012. - RC-East operational update

BAGRAM, Afghanistan - Afghan and coalition forces killed three insurgents, detained one, located one weapons cache and cleared three improvised explosive devices during operations in eastern Afghanistan throughout the past 24 hours, Dec. 20.

Laghman province

Afghan National Security Forces and coalition forces found and safely cleared two IEDs in Mehtar Lam district.

Afghan National Army soldiers and coalition forces killed two insurgents during an engagement in Mehtar Lam district.

Afghan National Army killed one insurgent during an engagement in Alingar district.

Logar province

Afghan National Security Forces and coalition forces found and safely cleared one IED in Baraki Barak district.

Afghan National Security Forces and coalition forces detained an insurgent while investigating a weapons cache in Muhammad Aghah district. The cache contained small arms and ammunition and multiple artillery and tank rounds being used to make IEDs. The detained suspect was transferred to a base for questioning.

Operations in RC-East are ongoing.
