Militants killed, police wounded in Zabul

QALAT (PAN): Two Taliban fighters were killed and three policemen injured in two separate incidents in the southern province of Zabul, officials said on Friday.

The militants were killed during a joint operation by police and the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) on Thursday night in the Sewri district.

Provincial police chief, Brig. Gen. Fazal Ahmad Sherzad, told Pajhwok Afghan News a third rebel was captured by police

Two walkie-talkies, three pistols, some ammunitions and documents were seized during the operation, he said.

Elsewhere in the province, three policemen were injured as a result of a remote-controlled bomb blast in the Mirano village of Mizan district, he concluded.
