Top officials escape Kapisa bomb attack

MAHMUD RAQI (PAN): Deputy Governor, a senator and the agriculture director escaped unhurt when a roadside bomb went off and hit their vehicle in central Kapisa Province, officials said on Thursday.

The blast occurred at about 8:30am in the Shokheu area on the outskirts of Mahmud Raqi, the provincial capital.

Deputy Governor, Aziz Rahman Tawab, Mahiuddin Munsef, member of Meshrano Jirga and Syed Muskeen, the agriculture director, were on their way to Nejrab district, the governor’s spokesman said.

Qais Qaderi told Pajhwok Afghan News that the officials were travelling on a police vehicle, when they came under attack. He added no one was hurt in the blast, but the vehicle was damaged.

A security official said on condition of anonymity that senator Munsef was slightly injured in the bombing. Security personnel cordon off the area after the blast and initiated investigations.
