Mar. 21., 2013. - ISAF Joint Command Operational Update

KABUL, Afghanistan - An Afghan and coalition security force arrested a Taliban weapons facilitator and detained one other insurgent during an operation in Arghandab district, Kandahar province, today.

The facilitator is accused of brokering weapons and ammunition deals to various insurgent fighters in Arghandab for use in attacks against Afghan and coalition forces.

An Afghan and coalition security force arrested a Taliban leader and detained two other insurgents during an operation in Nawah-ye Barakzai district, Helmand province, today. The leader and his subordinates are believed to have carried out a significant number of improvised explosive device attacks against Afghan and coalition forces. He is also accused of procuring IED-making supplies and distributing them to his fighters.

East

Afghan and coalition security forces confirmed today the death of Haqqani leader, Hazratullah, during an operation in Sabari district, Khost province, Tuesday. Hazratullah had a long history of procuring weapons, IED components, ammunition and other supplies and distributing them to militants for use in attacks against Afghan and coalition forces.

Jan. 19., 2013. - ISAF Joint Command Operational Update

KABUL, Afghanistan - During a security operation in Sherzad district, Nangarhar province, Jan. 18, an Afghan and coalition force killed a local Taliban leader, Qari Sayed Wali, and arrested a second Taliban leader.

Qari Sayed Wali distributed and emplaced IEDs throughout Sherzad district and conducted the April 2012 attack on the Sherzad District Center.

The arrested leader conducted IED attacks against Afghan government officials as well as Afghan and coalition forces. He also permitted bomb makers to use his home to construct IEDs and store ammunition and explosives.

The security force also detained two suspected insurgents and seized multiple weapons and ammunition as a result of the operation.

An Afghan and coalition security force arrested a local Taliban leader in Nahr-e Saraj district, Helmand province, Jan. 17. The leader planned improvised explosive device attacks against Afghan and coalition forces and oversaw the emplacement of IEDs in the district. During the operation, the security force also detained one suspected insurgent.

An Afghan and coalition security force arrested a local Taliban leader in Arghandab district, Kandahar province, yesterday. The leader coordinated and executed improvised explosive device attacks against Afghan and coalition forces and oversaw the distribution of IEDs, weapons and ammunition to insurgents operating in district. During the operation, the security force also detained one suspected insurgent.

East

An Afghan and coalition security force arrested a Haqqani leader in Terayzai district, Khost province, Jan. 18. The leader directed attacks against Afghan and coalition forces in Khost province. He also oversaw the construction and delivery of IEDs to insurgents operating in Terayzai district, and helped acquire improvised explosive device components, ammunition and detonation materials. During the operation, the security force also detained one suspected insurgent.

Two Afghan children were wounded in separate incidents

KANDAHAR, Afghanistan - Two Afghan children were wounded in separate
incidents in Arghandab District, Afghanistan, when one stepped on a mine
and the other on an improvised explosive device, June 24.

The first child lost both legs after stepping on an anti-personnel mine
at approximately 10 a.m. The Afghan National Army and their American
partners were first on scene to provide emergency care before the ANA
evacuated the child and parents to a local hospital.

The second child is reported to have stepped on an IED at approximately
1 p.m. Afghan Uniformed Police reported the incident and evacuated the
child to a local hospital for care.

Both incidents are the result of Taliban operations in the surrounding
areas.

Feb.07., 2012. - ISAF Joint Command Morning Operational Update

KABUL, Afghanistan (Feb. 07) – In Nahr-e Saraj district, Helmand province, an Afghan and coalition security force captured a Taliban leader during an operation today.

The leader moved supplies for fighters and directed an insurgent cell specializing in bomb attacks throughout the province.

One additional suspected insurgent was detained during the operation.

An Afghan and coalition security force captured a Taliban facilitator during an operation in Arghandab district, Kandahar province, today. The facilitator supplied insurgents with explosives for use in attacks throughout Arghandab district. Two suspected insurgents were detained during the operation.

In Maiwand district, Kandahar province, an Afghan and coalition security force conducted an operation in search of a Taliban leader today. The leader conducts direct-fire and roadside bomb attacks. Multiple suspected insurgent were detained during the operation.

An Afghan and coalition security force conducted an operation in search of a Taliban leader in Nahr-e Saraj district, Helmand province, today. The leader distributes ammunition and weapons to insurgent fighters for use in attacks against coalition security forces. The security force detained several suspected insurgents during the operation.

In Washir district, Helmand province, an Afghan led and coalition supported security force conducted an operation in search of an insurgent leader yesterday. The leader is responsible for attacks against Afghan and coalition forces throughout the province. The security force detained multiple suspected insurgents during the operation.

An Afghan led and coalition supported security force conducted a security operation in Shah Joy and Qalat districts, Zabul province, yesterday. The security force detained two suspected insurgents during the operation.

An Afghan and coalition security force captured a Haqqani Network leader during an operation in Pul-e ‘Alam district, Logar province, today. The leader conducted attacks against Afghan forces in Logar province. One additional suspected insurgent was detained during the operation.

In Pul-e ‘Alam district, Logar province, an Afghan and coalition security force captured a Haqqani Network leader during an operation today. The leader directed roadside bomb and direct-fire attacks against Afghan security forces. No civilians were injured during the operation.

The facilitator supplied insurgent fighters with explosives for use in attacks against Afghan forces. Two additional suspected insurgents were detained during the operation.
