Feb. 23., 2013. - RC-East operational update

BAGRAM, Afghanistan - Afghan and coalition forces cleared one improvised explosive device during operations in eastern Afghanistan throughout the past 24 hours, Feb. 22.

Additionally, Afghan National Security Forces cleared one IED during an operation in Khowst Province Feb. 21, according to late reports.

Khowst Province Afghan and coalition forces found and safely cleared one IED in Bak District.

Dec. 28., 2012. - RC-East operational update

BAGRAM, Afghanistan - Afghan and coalition forces killed two insurgents, detained two and cleared three improvised explosive devices during operations in eastern Afghanistan throughout the past 24 hours, Dec. 27.

Ghazni Province
Afghan National Security Forces detained one insurgent during an engagement in Andar District. The detained suspect was transferred to a base for questioning.

Khowst Province
Afghan National Security Forces and coalition forces found and safely cleared one IED in Khowst District.

Afghan National Army soldiers and coalition forces found and safely cleared two IEDs in Bak District.

Nuristan Province
Afghan National Security Forces and coalition forces killed two insurgents and detained one during an engagement in Kamdesh District.
The detained insurgent was transferred to a base for questioning.

Operations in RC-East are ongoing.

Dec. 20., 2012. - RC-East operational update

BAGRAM, Afghanistan - Afghan and coalition forces detained two insurgents, located one weapons caches and cleared five improvised explosive devices during operations in eastern Afghanistan throughout the past 24 hours, Dec. 19.

Khowst Province
Afghan Uniformed Police and coalition forces discovered a weapons cache in Sabari District. The cache contained small arms and ammunition, grenades and one IED.

Afghan Uniformed Police and coalition forces found and safely cleared one IED in Bak District.

Afghan Border Police and coalition forces detained one insurgent during an engagement in Gurbuz District. The detained suspect was transferred to a base for questioning.

Laghman Province
Afghan National Security Forces and coalition forces found and safely cleared two IEDs in Qarghah'I District.

Logar Province
Afghan National Army soldiers and coalition forces detained one insurgent during an engagement in Muhammad Aghah District. The detained suspect was transferred to a base for questioning.

Wardak Province
Afghan National Security Forces and coalition forces found and safely cleared one IED in Jalrez District.

July 01., 2012. - RC-East operational update

BAGRAM, Afghanistan – Afghan and coalition forces killed 18 insurgents and detained four during operations in eastern Afghanistan throughout the past 24 hours, July 01.

Paktika province

Afghan National Security Forces and coalition forces responded when an insurgent self-detonated an improvised explosive, killing himself in the process, in Yosuf Khel district. Once on site, coalition forces detained one insurgent. The detained suspect was transferred to a base for questioning.

Afghan National Security Forces and coalition forces killed nine insurgents during an engagement in Bermal District.

Nagarhar province
An insurgent self-detonated an improvised explosive, killing himself in the process, in Rodat district.

Logar province
Afghan National Security Forces and coalition forces detained one insurgent during an engagement in Charkh District. The detained suspect was transferred to a base for questioning.

Kunar province
Afghan National Security Forces and coalition forces killed nine insurgents during a small arms engagement in Watahpu District.

Khowst province
Afghan Border Police and coalition forces detained two insurgents during an engagement in Bak District. The detained suspects were transferred to a base for questioning.

Taliban and Haqqani leaders detained in Afghan operations

Afghan and coalition security forces captured a Taliban leader along with a Haqqani Network leader following military operations in Kandahar and Khost provinces of Afghanistan.
International Security Assistance Force following a press release on Monday announced Afghan and coalition security force captured a Taliban facilitator during an operation in Kandahar district, Kandahar province, Saturday. The facilitator provided weapons, ammunition and equipment to insurgents in Kandahar City and Kandahar district for attacks against Afghan and coalition forces. The security force also detained one additional insurgent as a result of this operation.
The source further added, Afghan-led security force captured a Haqqani leader during an operation in Terayzai district, Khost province, yesterday. The leader directed roadside bombings and other attacks against Afghan and coalition security forces throughout Bak district. The security force detained two additional insurgents as a result of this operation.
In a separate military operation at eastern Logar province Afghan security forces detained several insurgents at Baraki Barak district, ISAF added. The operation was launched to detain a Haqqani Network leader who is suspected of providing weapons and ammunition to insurgents for a planned attack against Afghan government officials, Afghan security forces and coalition security forces in Kabul City. Additionally, the facilitator has ties to the Pakistan-based leaders of the Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan.

Mar.31., 2012. - ISAF Joint Command Morning Operational Update

KABUL, Afghanistan – In Maidan Shahr district, Wardak province, an Afghan and coalition security force captured a Taliban facilitator during an operation today.

The facilitator provided roadside bombs and other weapons to insurgents for attacks against Afghan and coalition security forces throughout the district.

He is also suspected in the January 2 attack along Highway 2 against a convoy escorted by Afghan security forces. Three Afghan soldiers were wounded.

The security force detained one additional insurgent and seized an Afghan National Police uniform as a result of the operation.

In other International Security Assistance Force news throughout Afghanistan:

North

An Afghan and coalition security force captured a Taliban facilitator during an operation in Charhar Darah district, Kunduz province, today. The facilitator managed the insurgent financial network in the province and provided funds that enabled attacks against Afghan and coalition security forces. The security force detained three additional insurgents and no shots were fired during the operation.

South

In Shah Wali Kot district, Kandahar province, an Afghan and coalition security force conducted an operation to capture a Taliban facilitator today. The facilitator supplies insurgents with weapons, ammunition and equipment for attacks against Afghan and coalition security forces in Kandahar city. The security force also detained one suspected insurgent.

East

An Afghan and coalition security force captured a Haqqani leader during an operation in Sayyidabad district, Wardak province, today. The leader directed kidnappings and other insurgent operations against Afghan civilians, Afghan security forces and coalition security forces throughout the province. The security force detained two additional insurgents and destroyed multiple AK-47s and grenades on site.

In Bak district, Khost province, an Afghan and coalition security force conducted an operation to capture a Haqqani leader today. The leader organizes roadside bombings and other attacks against Afghan and coalition security forces throughout the district. The security force also detained several suspected insurgents.

An Afghan and coalition security force conducted an operation to capture a Taliban facilitator in Gardez district, Paktiya province, today. The facilitator supplies insurgents with roadside bombs, weapons and ammunition for attacks against Afghan and coalition security forces throughout the district. The security force also detained three suspected insurgents and seized multiple weapons during the operation.
