BAGRAM, Afghanistan - Afghan National Security and coalition forces killed seven insurgents, detained four suspected insurgents, discovered two weapons caches and found and safely cleared eight improvised explosive devices during operations in eastern Afghanistan throughout the past 24 hours, May 19.

Ghazni province
Afghan National Security Forces killed five insurgents, detained three suspected insurgents, and found and safely cleared two IEDs during operations in the Waghez district. The suspects were transferred to a base for questioning.

Khowst province
Afghan National Security and coalition forces discovered one weapons cache and found and safely cleared one IED during operations in the Saberi district. The cache consisted of four IEDs.

Nangarhar province
Afghan National Security Forces found and safely cleared one IED during operations in the Shinwar district.

Paktika province
Afghan National Security Forces killed one insurgent during operations in the Jani Khel district.

Afghan National Security Forces killed one insurgent during operations in the Sharan district.

A coalition airstrike killed six insurgents and wounded one who were emplacing an IED in Gelan District. The wounded insurgent received medical care and was transferred to a base for questioning.

Afghan National Security Forces and coalition forces killed two insurgent and wounded five during an engagement in Tagab District. The wounded insurgents received medical care and were transferred to a base for questioning.

Feb.09., 2012. - ISAF Joint Command Morning Operational Update

KABUL, Afghanistan (Feb. 09) – In Panjwa’i district, Kandahar province, a combined Afghan and coalition security force discovered a drug cache during an operation yesterday.

The cache consisted of approximately 2,534 pounds (1,152 kilograms) of marijuana.

The security force confiscated the drugs and destroyed them without incident.

An Afghan and coalition security force captured a Taliban facilitator during an operation in Nawa district, Helmand province, today. The leader provided insurgent fighters with weapons and coordinated attacks in Washer and Nahr-e Saraj districts. One additional suspected insurgent was detained.

East
In Shinwar district, Nangarhar province, an Afghan and coalition security force captured a Taliban leader during an operation today. The leader specialized in explosives and conducted multiple attacks in Shinwar district. Several suspected insurgents were also detained during the operation.
