KABUL, Afghanistan – Afghan and coalition forces confirmed today the death of Taliban leader Hafiz Sadar during a security operation in Ghazni province Thursday.
Hafiz Sadar, also known as Sherin Agha, was responsible for directing improvised explosive device and direct-fire attacks against Afghan and coalition forces. He was also directly accountable for the kidnapping of Afghan officials.
During the operation, the security force positively identified Hafiz Sadar and another insurgent conducting threatening activity and engaged them, killing both.
