16 armed insurgents killed and 16 others arrested by Afghan National Police
Counterterrorism:
During the past 24 hours, Afghan National Police, Afghan National Army,
NDS and Coalition Forces launched five joint clearance operations in
Kabul, Kunar, Kunduz, Kandahar and Helmand provinces.
As a result of these operations, 16 armed insurgents were killed and 16 others were arrested by Afghan National Police.

Also, during these operations, Afghan National Police discovered and
confiscated 1438 kilograms of opium, two AK-47 assault rifles with 13
magazines, one rocket launcher, two PKM machine guns, six different
types of mines, and 83 kilograms of explosive materials.
During the same 24 hour period, Afghan National Police discovered and
defused 18 kg of explosive materials and one anti-vehicle mine as a
result of security operations in Ghazni and Kapisa provinces.
Counternarcotics:
Afghan National Police arrested two smugglers with 15kg of opium and 2kg of hashish in the 5th and 8th Districts of Kabul-City.

In the meantime, Afghan National Border Police arrested a smuggler with
45 kilograms of heroin in the Spin Boldak District of southern Kandahar
province, yesterday.
