Top officials escape Kapisa bomb attack

MAHMUD RAQI (PAN): Deputy Governor, a senator and the agriculture director escaped unhurt when a roadside bomb went off and hit their vehicle in central Kapisa Province, officials said on Thursday.

The blast occurred at about 8:30am in the Shokheu area on the outskirts of Mahmud Raqi, the provincial capital.

Deputy Governor, Aziz Rahman Tawab, Mahiuddin Munsef, member of Meshrano Jirga and Syed Muskeen, the agriculture director, were on their way to Nejrab district, the governor’s spokesman said.

Qais Qaderi told Pajhwok Afghan News that the officials were travelling on a police vehicle, when they came under attack. He added no one was hurt in the blast, but the vehicle was damaged.

A security official said on condition of anonymity that senator Munsef was slightly injured in the bombing. Security personnel cordon off the area after the blast and initiated investigations.

15 Afghan civilians and kids killed in NATO air raid

At least 15 Afghan civilians were killed following NATO air raid at eastern Kapisa and Kunar provinces of Afghanistan.

Afghan Presidential Palace in a statement said, the latest investigation findings reveal 15 Afghan civilians including Afghan kids were killed during NATO air raid in these two provinces.

The statement further added, the commission which was appointed by Afghan president Hamid Karzai on Sunday presented their findings report at the security council meeting.

Chief of the investigations committee Mawlawi Shahzada Shahid who visited Kunar said, at least 7 Afghan civilians most of them from a single family was killed during NATO air raid at Soki district in eastern Kunar province.

Meanwhile the committee members who visited eastern Kapisa province also said 8 Afghan kids were killed in NATO air raid at Nejrab district.

Residents of eastern Kapisa and Kunar provinces urged Afghan president Hamid Karzai to prevent NATO air raids, the statement added.

However NATO officials said they are investigating the two incidents.

NATO air raid kill 8 Afghan civilians in Kapisa province

According to local authorities in eastern Afghanistan, at least 8 Afghan civilians were killed following an air raid by International Coalition forces in eastern Kapisa province.

The officials further added, the incident took place in Nejrab district of eastern Kapisa province.

A number of local residents said, the civilians were killed while they were feeding their animals on a mountain in Giawa in Nejrab district.

In the meantime Kapisa provincial security chief Abdul Hamid said, the identities of those killed during the air raid is not recognized yet.

He also said, investigations have been put in place to find out the facts behind the incident.
