KABUL, Afghanistan - The following is a statement by Gen. Joseph F. Dunford, International Security Assistance Force commander:

"Yesterday we lost seven Georgian service members during a vehicle-borne IED attack on their base in Helmand Province. I extend my deepest condolences to the families of the fallen and those who served with them. Their memories remain in our hearts and we will never forget their service and sacrifice.

"While this is a sad moment for the Georgian people and the coalition forces, we will not be deterred from our efforts to bring stability and security to the Afghan people. Georgia's support of the ISAF mission has been steadfast and tangible. While many have contributed to the security improvements in Afghanistan, Georgian soldiers have always stood out for their toughness and willingness to take on difficult missions. Georgia has more than 1,500 troops serving in Helmand Province, making it the largest non-NATO contributor to ISAF. ISAF will always be grateful for Georgia's contribution and commitment.

"The enemies of Afghanistan continue to use tactics like yesterday's attack to try to slow the momentum of progress, but they will fail. ISAF and Georgia remain committed to working together with the ANSF as we continue to build on the progress made toward a brighter future for the Afghan people."

The remotely piloted Predators or the more deadly Reapers launched three missiles at a convoy of pickup trucks carrying AQAP fighters in the Al Mahfad area in the southern province of Abyan today, Xinhua reported.

AQAP controlled the cities in Abyan, as well as other cities and towns in neighboring
Shabwa province, after launching its own offensive in the spring of 2011.

The US has launched one other drone strike in Al Mahfad. That attack took place on May 18. Four AQAP fighters were killed when the drones launched missiles against a vehicle carrying grenades and suicide belts.

Kenya: Garissa Terrorist Blown Up in His Own Explosive

A middle aged terror suspect in Garissa was on wednsday night ripped to peaces after an IED he was trying to plant went off killing him instantly and severely wounding his accomplices.

The 9.30 pm explosion which was had more than five Km away happened along the busy kismayu road, only some 200 meters from the spot where three KDF soldiers were shot dead by suspected Al Shabaab operatives last November.

Confirming the incident NEP Deputy PPO Noor Gabow said the terrorists were targeting military and police vehicles which ply the route when travelling to Dadaab, Wajir, Mandera and Kismayu.

"We have launched a manhunt for the accomplices of the killed man who we believe managed to get away and receiving treatment at private location," said Gabow.

This comes only a day after locals leaders and business men led by Garissa senator Yussuf Haji initiated efforts to form vigilante groups to compliment the efforts of security officers in restore sanity in the insecurity hit town.

In late February this year, at least this terror suspects were killed as they tried to plant an improvised explosive device at the Garissa primary school grounds where the then Narc Kenya presidential candidate Martha Karua was scheduled to address a rally.

Police managed to recover two guns, one which had earlier been stolen from a slain police officer who was killed at the Garissa market. Garissa town has borne brunt of retaliatory attacks by al shabaab since kenya troops crossed over into Somalia in late 2011 following a series of attacks and kidnappings in the country. Since then over 300 people have lost their lives including police officers, military officers, government officials and civilians have been killed .
