May 10., 2013. - RC-East operational update

BAGRAM, Afghanistan - Afghan National Security and coalition forces detained one suspected insurgent and discovered one weapons cache during operations in eastern Afghanistan throughout the past 24 hours, May 9.

Afghan National Security and coalition forces detained one suspected insurgent and discovered one weapons cache during operations in the Laja Ahmadkhel district. The suspected insurgent was transferred to a base for questioning. The cache contained approximately 700 rounds of ammunition and one 107 mm rocket.

Mar. 22., 2013. - ISAF Joint Command Operational Update

KABUL, Afghanistan – An Afghan and coalition security force arrested a senior Taliban leader, two Taliban high-profile attack facilitators and detained two other insurgents during an operation in Jalrayz district, Wardak province, today.

The leader is accused of planning and directing a number of high-profile attacks against Afghan and coalition forces. His background includes kidnapping and assassination attempts against government officials, past attempts to destabilize Afghan elections, and recruitment of insider threat agents.

North

An Afghan and coalition security force detained an insurgent during an operation in search of a Taliban operational leader in Khanabad district, Kunduz province, today. As a member of the leader's cell of fighters, the detained insurgent is believed to have participated in multiple attacks against members of the Afghan government in addition to Afghan and coalition forces.

East

An Afghan and coalition security force arrested a facilitator working for both the Taliban and Haqqani networks and detained one other insurgent during an operation in Gardez district, Paktiya province, today. The facilitator is accused of handling money and supplies for insurgent networks for use in attacks against Afghan and coalition forces. He was also in direct contact with senior leadership for multiple extremist groups.

Nov. 01., 2012. - ISAF Joint Command Morning Operational Update

KABUL, Afghanistan – In Helmand province today, an Afghan and coalition security force arrested the Taliban facilitator responsible for the Aug. 7 insider attack in Paktiya province that killed one U.S. service member and wounded three.

During the operation, Afghan troops also seized what is believed to be the attacker's ANA identification card.

Another suspected insurgent was also arrested.

East

Afghan Provincial Response Company Ghazni, enabled by coalition forces, seized a large cache of explosive material during an operation in Ghazni province yesterday. Following the operation, Afghan and coalition force recovered 1,700 kilograms (3,750 pounds) of ammonium nitrate, a known explosive. All seized materials were destroyed at the location.

An Afghan and coalition security force arrested a Haqqani facilitator in Khost province today. The arrested facilitator was directly tied to the suicide bomber attack on Afghan and coalition forces in Khost district June 20. During the operation, the security force also detained a number of suspected insurgents.

An Afghan and coalition security force killed Haqqani leader, Irfan, during a security operation in Paktiya province yesterday. Irfan, also known as Asayal and Hamza, was responsible for directing attacks against Afghan and coalition forces and coordinating the movement of weapons and bomb-making materials for the attacks.

Afghan National Police Crisis Response Unit members, enabled by coalition forces, detained more than a dozen suspected insurgents and seized a large cache of weapons, ammunition and explosive devices during an operation in Parwan province Tuesday. Following the operation, Afghan and coalition force recovered more than a dozen AK-47 assault rifles, several 82 mm mortar rounds and several hand grenades.

Oct. 15., 2012. - ISAF Joint Command Daily Operational Update

KABUL, Afghanistan – Afghan and coalition forces today confirmed the death of Taliban leader Qurashi from a security operation in Kunduz province, Saturday.

Qurashi, also known as Baz Khan and Zubair, was a Taliban leader specializing in the use of improvised explosive devices and was directly involved in planning and executing IED attacks.

East

Afghan National Army Special Forces, partnered with U.S. special forces, killed a number of insurgents during a patrol in Paktiya province Friday when the coalition partners were ambushed by more than a dozen insurgents. The combined force returned fire and used air support to kill the insurgents. No civilians or security forces were killed or injured during the engagement.

Civilians killed and injured following explosion in Paktiya

According to local authorities in eastern Paktiya province at least 21 Afghan civilians were killed or injured following an explosion in this province.

The officials further added the incident took place on late Tuesday evening at Gardiz city near the branch of Kabul Bank.

An official at the provincial hospital said at least 1 person was killed and 20 others were injured following the explosion and were taken to the hospital for the treatment purposes.

He also said at least 4 civilians who were injured during the explosion were in a critical condition, and two others who were seriously injured were taken to capital Kabul for treatment.

In the meantime provincial security officials said one Afghan civilian was killed and four others were injured.

No group including the Taliban militants have so far claimed responsibility behind the incident.

Roadside mine blast leaves three civilians killed in Paktiya province
Today at 09:00Am, an anti-vehicle mine which was placed by the enemies of peace and stability hit a civilian vehicle in the Kotikhil village, Zurmat District of Paktiya province.
As a result, three civilians were killed including a child and a woman.
Afghan Ministry of Interior Affairs condemns in the strongest terms this act of the enemies of peace and stability and expresses its sincere condolences to the families of the victims.
