Two killed, three injured in Balochistan

QUETTA: Two people were killed and three others wounded, including a brother of Balochistan finance minister, in separate firing incidents in Balochistan on Tuesday. An explosion also occurred in a Frontier Corps camp in Turbat.

According to police, unidentified armed men opened indiscriminate fire on Muhammad Asif, the brother of Finance Minister Mir Asim Kurd Gailo, in Panjgour town. Asif sustained serious wounds and was rushed to a nearby hospital for medical aid. The assailants fled from the scene after committing the crime.

In another incident, unidentified men killed a driver and wounded two others in Qila Saifullah.

Levies sources said that armed men opened indiscriminate fire on workers of a road construction company in Kanchogi area in Muslim Bagh tehsil. Resultantly, bulldozer driver Muhammad Khalid died on the spot and Qari and Muhammad Faisal were seriously wounded.

In Quetta, police recovered a body from Essa Nagri Brewery Road and shifted it to hospital for autopsy. However, identity of the deceased could not be ascertained.

Four militants killed near Turbat

QUETTA: At least four militants were killed and seven others were detained on Friday by Frontier Corps (FC) personnel near Balochistan’s Turbat region in retaliation of an ambush, DawnNews reported.

The incident took place 20 kilometres from Turbat in the province’s Gaban area, a spokesman of the FC said.

FC’s assault was in retaliation to an ambush by militants on their convoy, the spokesperson added.
In two separate crackdown operations in Nushki and Naseerabad, FC officials recovered weapons and ammunition in large quantities.

The weapons and ammunition included 11 SMGs, three LMGs, 14 rifles, nine short guns, five rocket launchers and 100 rounds of SMGs.

However, no arrests were made in the operations in Nushki and Naseerabad.

Separate incidents claim seven lives in Balochistan

QUETTA: Seven people lost their lives Monday in different acts of violence in Balochistan, while two others were injured, DawnNews reported.

Levies sources said two men were shot dead by unidentified assailants in the Mand Blo area of Turbat. According to eyewitnesses, the two men were standing by the roadside when they were shot by the assailants who were riding motorcycles.

In another incident, two bullet-riddled dead bodies were found from Sorab area. The bodies of the two men, who had suffered bullet wounds on their skulls, were shifted to the hospital for identification.

Meanwhile, a land dispute in Osta Mohammad led to an armed clash between two tribal groups, resulting in three men being killed and two others being injured.

Seven killed, two injured in Turbat gun-attack

TURBAT: A gun-attack in the Turbat region of Balochistan killed seven people and injured two others, DawnNews reported on Tuesday.

According to security officials, 12 men were working on restoring a road in Turbat Municipality, when unidentified gunmen opened fire at them.

The attack left five workers on the spot, while two others failed to recover from their injuries and passed away in Turbat Hospital.

Banned nationalist outfit Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF) has claimed responsibility for carrying out the attack.

The attackers, who fled the scene, also set fire to three vehicles belonging to the road-works team.
An earlier attack (January 12) in the same area killed 14 FC personnel.
