Jan. 21., 2013. - RC-East operational update

BAGRAM, Afghanistan - Afghan and coalition forces killed two insurgents, detained two, located one weapons cache and cleared one improvised explosive device during operations in eastern Afghanistan throughout the past 24 hours, Jan. 20.

Ghazni province
Afghan National Security Forces and coalition forces killed two insurgents during an engagement in Gelan district.

Khowst province
Afghan National Security Forces and coalition forces discovered a cache in Khowst district. The cache contained rifles, grenades and body armor.

Afghan Border Police and coalition forces detained an insurgent in Khowst district. The detained suspect was transferred to a base for questioning.

Kunar province
Afghan National Security Forces found and safely cleared an IED in Watahpur district.

Paktya province
Coalition forces detained one insurgent in Paktya province. The detained suspect was transferred to a base for questioning.

Operations in RC-East are ongoing.
