Friday, December 16, 2011 – An explosion rocked capital Kabul on late Friday evening. The incident took place in 5th district of capital Kabul.
According to local residents and eyewitnesses in the area, at least two loud explosions were heard at the scene of the incident and a number of armed men have managed to enter the 5th district police commandment and exchange gunfire with the Afghan security forces.
An Afghan security official speaking on the condition of anonymity said, at least one suicide bombers detonated their explosives infront of the 5th district police station and another inside the police station.
Meanwhile, Afghan interior ministry offifcials confirmed that the clashes are now over and Afghan police forces have started investigations into the incident.
However the exact nature of the incident and details of casualties as a result of the incident have not been disclosed by security officials yet.
