Helmand provincial governor spokesman Daud Ahmadi confirming the report said, the Taliban commander Mullah Abdul Rahim was killed by coalition forces in Jazi area while he struggling to plant a roadside bomb.
Mr. Ahmadi further added, Mullah Abdul Rahim was recently elected as the commander of the Taliban militants in Nawzad district of southern Helmand province.
He was chosen as the commander of the Taliban to overlook Nawzad district following the assassination of Mullah Gulbuddin who was previously the commander of the Taliban group for the same region, Mr. Ahmadi said.
According to reports, a companion of the Taliban leader Mullah Abdul Rahim was also killed.
