BAGRAM, Afghanistan - Afghan and coalition forces killed eight insurgents, detained 11, located one weapons caches and cleared 12 improvised explosive devices during operations in eastern Afghanistan throughout the past 24 hours, Aug. 2.
Ghazni Province
Afghan National Security Forces and coalition forces found and safely cleared an IED in Qarah Bagh District.
Afghan National Security Forces and coalition forces discovered a weapons cache in Sayyidabad District. The cache contained items being used to construct IEDs.
Khowst Province
Afghan National Security Forces and coalition forces found and safely cleared five IEDs in Sabari District.
Afghan National Security Forces and coalition forces detained six insurgents during an engagement in Khowst District. The detained suspects were transferred to a base for questioning.
Logar Province
Afghan National Security Forces and coalition forces found and safely cleared an IED in Pul-E Alam District.
Afghan National Security Forces and coalition forces detained five insurgents who were emplacing an IED in Muhammad Aghah District. The IED was cleared and the detained suspects were transferred to a base for questioning.
Nangarhar Province
Afghan National Security Forces and coalition forces found and safely cleared two IEDs, one in Bati Kot District and one in Kuz Kunar.
Paktika Province
Afghan Local Police and coalition forces found and safely cleared an IED in Sar Rowzah District.
Paktiya Province
A coalition airstrike killed eight insurgents and wounded two in Jani Khel District who were emplacing IEDs. The wounded received medical care and were transferred to a base for questioning.
Wardak Province
Afghan National Security Forces and coalition forces found and safely cleared two IEDs in Sayyidabad District.
Operations in RC-East are still ongoing.
