Sunday, December 04, 2011 –
Officials in the ministry of defense of Afghanistan following a statement on Sunday said, at least four anti-government rebels were killed following a joint military operation by Afghan and NATO-led international security assistance forces during the past 24 hours.
The statement further added, the joint military operations were conducted in southern Helmand and Kandahar provinces and eastern Nangarhar province.
Afghan defense officials also said, at least two Afghan national army service members were killed and one Afghan national service member was injured during the operations in southern Kandahar and eastern Kunar provinces
Taliban militants group yet to comment regarding the operations.
Afghan and NATO-led international security assistance force have doubled their operations across the country as Afghanistan is witnessing the second phase of security transition.
According to Afghan officials, the second phase of security transition will cover around 50% of the Afghanistan where Afghan security forces will take the lead in various regions including relatively peaceful and volatile regions.
