During the past 24 hours, Afghan National Police, Afghan National Army,
NDS and Coalition Forces launched eight joint clearance operations in
Kabul, Nangarhar, Nooristan, Baghlan, Kandahar, Helmand, Zabul and
Uruzgan provinces.
As a result of these operations, eight armed insurgents were killed and one other was arrested by Afghan National Police.

Also, during these operations, Afghan National Police discovered and
confiscated one mortar round, one rocket launcher, 25 different types of
weapons, 15 radio handsets, 21 heavy rounds, 950 light rounds, four
anti-vehicle mines, 2kg of opium, 7kg of explosive materials, 155
magazines and four motorbikes.
During the same 24 hour period, Afghan National Police discovered and
defused one anti-vehicle mine, 27 heavy rounds and 125 kilograms of
explosive materials as a result of security operations in Logar and
Ghazni provinces.

Additionally, one mine planter was killed by his own explosives while
he attempted to plant a roadside mine in the Panjwaie District of
southern Kandahar province, yesterday.
