18 armed insurgents killed and 8 others arrested by ANP

Counterterrorism:
During the past 24 hours, Afghan National Police, Afghan National Army, NDS and Coalition Forces launched six joint clearance operations in Badakhshan, Helmand, Logar, Khost and Paktiya provinces.
  
As a result of these operations, 18 armed insurgents were killed and eight others were arrested by Afghan National Police.

Also, during these operations, Afghan National Police discovered and confiscated 10 AK-47 assault rifles, one rocket launcher, two PKM machine guns, 47 different types of mines, three hand grenades, three pistols, eight heavy rounds, 50 light rounds, 15kg of opium, 140 kilograms of explosive materials, one radio handset, two vehicles and six motorcycles.

During the same 24 hour period, Afghan National Police discovered and defused one anti-vehicle mine, one 82mm artillery shell and 20 anti-personnel mines as a result of security operations in Helmand and Kandahar provinces.

Crimes:
The 101 Kabul Zone National Police detained five individuals accused of assault, murder and theft in the 7th, 11th and 16th Districts of Kabul-City.
