July 20., 2012. - RC-East operational update

BAGRAM, Afghanistan – Afghan and coalition forces killed three insurgents, detained eight and cleared three improvised explosive devices during operations in eastern Afghanistan throughout the past 24 hours, July 20.

Ghazni province
Afghan National Police and coalition forces found and safely cleared an IED in Ghazni district.

Khowst province
Afghan Border Police and coalition forces detained eight insurgents during engagements in Khowst and Gurbuz districts. The detained suspects were transferred to a base for questioning.

Kunar province
Afghan National Security Forces and coalition forces killed three insurgents after receiving small arms fire while investigating an IED in Watahpur district. The IED was safely cleared after the engagement ceased.

Logar province
Afghan National Security Forces and coalition forces found and safely cleared an IED in Baraki Barak district.

Nangarhar province
Afghan Uniformed Police and coalition forces found and safely cleared an IED in Khugyani district.

Operations in RC-East are still ongoing.
