KABUL, April 11 (Xinhua) -- A soldier with the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) was killed Wednesday in a blast in southern Afghan region, the ISAF forces confirmed in a press release.
"An International Security Assistance Force service member died following an improvised explosive device (IED) attack in southern Afghanistan today," the release said.
However, the brief statement did not disclose the nationality of the victim under the ISAF policy.
Troops mainly from the United States, Britain and Australia have been stationed in the southern region within the framework of ISAF to curb Taliban-linked insurgency there.
A total of 107 NATO soldiers, most of them Americans, have been killed in Afghanistan so far this year.
