NATO-led International Security Assistance Force following a press release on Wednesday announced Afghan and coalition security force captured a Taliban leader during an operation in Spin Boldak district, Kandahar province.
The leader coordinated roadside bombing attacks against Afghan and coalition security forces in Zharay and Panjwa’i districts. He also provided insurgents in the area with weapons and ammunition.
The security force detained one additional insurgent as a result of this operation.
The source further added, Afghan and coalition security force conducted an operation to capture a Taliban leader in Nad ‘Ali district, Helmand province. The leader provides insurgents with weapons, ammunition, and equipment, and coordinates attacks against Afghan and coalition security forces throughout the district. He also attempts to tax Afghan civilians in the area in order to provide financial support to his network. The security force detained multiple suspected insurgents as a result of this operation.
In a separate military operation at Sherzad district, Nangarhar province Afghan and coalition security force conducted an operation to capture a Taliban facilitator, ISAF added.
The facilitator provides weapons and equipment to insurgents for attacks against Afghan and coalition security forces. The security force detained several suspected insurgents and seized an 82mm mortar as a result of this operation.
Anti-government armed militant groups yet to comment regarding the reports.
