ASADABAD (PAN): Three civilians, including a baby girl, were injured in cross-border shelling from Pakistan into the Dangam district of eastern Kunar province, a senior official alleged on Wednesday.
Governor Syed Fazlullah Wahidi told Pajhwok Afghan News 38 missiles had been fired over the past 24 hours into the border areas of the district. A baby girl was among three people injured in the strikes that also caused material losses.
More than 50 people have been killed and wounded as a result of the missile attacks since the beginning of this year.
Separately, two Pakistani rebels from Sialkot and Peshawar cities of Pakistan were detained in Zherai Baba area of Noorgal district, said the deputy police chief of Kunar.
Col. Mohammad Daud Barakzai said the detainees had sneaked into the province with the support of the Taliban.
